November 18th Meeting

Our next meeting is November 18th! We had a good time in September and had 2 new comers. There was no social in October - things got busy here so we will have to make up for that in November.

September 23rd Social!

Hello everyone!

Sorry about canceling the last meeting in August! The next meeting is September 23rd. There are lots of people who have not been able to make a meeting due to conflicts, so this meeting is a social and a great one to show up too! I'll get some pizza for everyone, just bring your own beverages and stay as long as you would like. The social starts at 6pm. I'll keep my doors open until 8pm.

Round Table Discussion June 24th

June 24th will not have an intro class at 6pm. Instead, bring 3 questions and ask them to the group! If you need help with a technical issue, a future purchase decision, or whether you should eat carbs or protein before a shoot (no, not really), ask the group! Someone is bound to know! This will give us all an opportunity to get to know one another and socialize a bit! See you at 7pm on June 24th at 439b Grace Ave, downtown Panama City!

Next Meeting Tuesday, June 24th

Thanks to all of those who attended the Photoshop workshop last month! Also, a special thanks to Guy Ivie and Alex Dutton who both gave a presentation to everyone. The next meeting will be on the 24th of June. I am taking suggestions on classes you would like to see so I can arrange a workshop for June's meeting.

Full Sail student in the house!

My friend Bo just got back from spending some time at Full Sail. If you are unfamiliar with that college, it is a very awesome school in southern Florida that trains students to the 9 in various aspects of production. Needless to say, Bo will probably kick our butts at Photoshop, so if there is someone that keeps giving better tips in the group during our Photoshop meeting, and if that person looks way too young to know all that stuff, that would be Bo! Thanks for joining up Bo! We're happy to have you!

Change of meeting date!

Even though we will hold our meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, the first Multimedia User Group meeting the month of May will actually be held on Tuesday May 13th. Sorry for the inconvenience but I believe I am going to be out of town the 3rd week of May and I want to cover my bases so I can give enough head up about the new date!

We also roped in two new members! I'd like to welcome Jennifer and David who are contractors for Mac B. The do amazing eLearning course work along with computer programming and are great at Flash! It's awesome to have you both!

Public Eye just joined up!

The talented people at Public Eye (JD and Margaret) just joined our group! A bit of background here. My first production job was at WMBB 13, the ABC station in Panama City. JD and Margaret both worked at CH 13 and though I did not get the chance to spend much time under Margaret's wing because she moved to bigger and better things, JD was there and I remember watching the fantastic work he did with After Effects and he was always so gracious to share some tips and tricks with me! I'm really excited that they joined up because they bring a lot of experience and quality production to the group!

First class May 21st will be Photoshop!

I'll have more information on our first training session later but for now I'll just let everyone know that it will cover Photoshop. Most every member of the group uses Photoshop, whether you are a video professional, graphic artist, or web designer, all of us need it.

We will have a beginners Photoshop class for any member wanting to refresh. Mind you, this beginning class will be a real quick 30 minute intro. Arrive by 6pm for the refresher. 7pm is the time the official meeting kicks off!

Our first media mogul meeting!

Our first meeting will be Tuesday, May 21st at 7pm. Meetings there after will be held every 3rd Tuesday of the month. We'll be meeting at 439b Grace Ave which is right downtown across from where Hunts Oyster Bar closed down and a stone's throw from The Bagel Maker. I'll post the class that will be held on Tuesday once I finalize the trainers.

Genya Garrett with Vue Photography just joined the group! Actually, she is Sarah Powers Media's office-mate and is sharing her space with us as well! She rocks on Photoshop so is a great addition to the group!

More members, Yippee!!!

We were getting many interested video members, but now we just tacked on Guy Ivie and Teresa Hood who put out a civil engineering magazine for the Air Force. So we have some print design and layout gurus! Also from the contractor side is Jim Monhollon, he is another video guy, but kicks my butt with years experience! He also just went to NAB this year and I'm sure can let us know some cool technology or tips he picked up!

Our newest members!

Tamie from BTV just joined up along with Joanna from Diva Productions! As you can see, there is plenty of talent and experience in the area and we can all learn great skills and tips from one another! This is just a quick snippet from Tamie's email about what she can offer to the group!

Media Mogul Group

I finally moved into a studio space in March and am going to do something I've wanted to do for a long time! A multimedia user group here in the panhandle. Of course, there are marketing groups all over, but nothing for the grunts that actually DO the production!

For anyone with any interest joining, I am going to host a once a month meeting in my studio in downtown, Panama City. We'll see how this goes, maybe we can have more meetings! For now, before I schedule a meeting, join up if you would like to attend!

The more "members" that join, the more resources I can get for everyone to enjoy! My friend Jason Pippen started a Macromedia User Group a few years back but locations were hard to come by and they were pretty noisy so it never really took off unfortunately.

To join, just send me an email at sarah@sarahpowersmedia.com. In the subject place Media Mogul User Group because I do receive TONS of spam. Additional info that would be helpful would be your interests and skills. For example, do you just want to learn about video mainly, web design, or graphics? Maybe you are interested in all of the above. By giving your skills, the group may also be able to take advantage of your expertise as well!

My studio is a big enough space to house a decent amount of people I believe. I also have a green screen, lights, video cameras, Adobe CS 3 suite, Final Cut Studio 6, and a projector if we need it.
